I have been informed that as from today Busways are providing security guards on 755 bus service as from 7pm. Thank you Busways! This is as a result of constant anti-social behaviors that have happened around Mount Druitt.
With a State Election looming around the corner, I haven't had any politicians call us for advice. That is their call.
I have been shaking my head trying to find solutions to problems, so that at the end of any day the community doesn't suffer lost deserved services. So I have come up with some simple solutions (inclusive of details provided on yesterdays blog):
- That Transport NSW look into the the introduction of shopping outlets in all suburbs to sell Mybus 'Travel 10 tickets: Adult Single, Concessional Single, Adult Travel Ten, Concessional Travel Ten and all Mymulti tickets. Also Transport NSW to consider Mytrain & Myferry tickets. A suggestion to Transport NSW would be to look at introduction of Mybus return tickets as well. After announcing this and a period of three months expires, then there should be a complete introduction of 'Cashless buses' otherwise known in the Sydney CBD as 'Prepay buses'. This in itself defeat the purpose of criminals attacking or attempting murder for stealing cash that drivers have in their cash-tin.
- (As suggested to me by Hugh Worrell WSPTU) - The bus operators could look at collecting cash from bus drivers as central points without notice at some central points around mount Druitt. Picking up the cash would be one bag carrier and two security guards- thus reducing the amount of cash that a driver travels around with his cash-tin.
- That a driver carries limited cash and if and when receives larges notes, after a passenger sits down (unbeknown to the passengers), he places all large notes in a capsule that shoots it down some solid tubes that carries it to a secret compartment that only bus operators know about. It stays there until the bus is returned to the depot. Then it will be the bus operators responsibility to clear the cash from this compartment in secure and safe environment.
- Security guards/Police Officers required to stay with bus drivers and passengers, so that they can ensure the passengers are well behaved and that the outside community can see that protection of bus drivers is extremely important. Even unmarked police cars hidden near 'hot spots' -waiting for criminal to arrive.
- Curfew place on the teenagers up to 18 years old, not to be walking around all places at night. Young ones just like leaving home in the middle of the night to meet others - it depends on the others what they all decide to do - whether it is good or bad - let's prevent this potential anti-social behavior. Maybe a curfew starting at 9pm and finishing at 5am. This may reduce the illegal drinking that occurs in the mid teens
- The early closures of hotels and clubs at night - reduced trading hours during the week and weekends. Maybe closure at 9pm weekdays and 10pm Weekends. Alcohol can be an issue with the younger generation and this can reduce it! This would have to go to public scrutiny first as there would an even amount of favors or against.
There are community members extremely upset with what has happen. Some peoples emotions are written on their quiet faces when looking around you. Some people share the frustration, that makes them upset - young people are shocked as it doesn't show a good example of the younger generation, which I'm sure are brilliant in what they do but have to be careful when they say they 'Hang out'!
We do not want under-aged children walking around at night, 'hanging out' causing havoc and creating anti-social behaviors whether they do it in large or smaller groups.
We as a group are open to all sorts of suggestion from the general community. We ask for your thought towards a better transport community!
