Young Commuter Has Issues Getting To Work - Whalan Commuter

Marlene, a nice elderly lady from Whalan, who had been waiting to bus  with myself yesterday, told myself of of a sad story about one of our young community members  who has trouble reaching Hungary Jacks Mount Druitt for work on time.

The young commuter leaves work around 5.30am to try and reach work at Dean Park. He catches a  Busways 780 bus goes into Mount Druitt (which doesn't head straight towards Dean Park), he then has to transfer to a Busways 756 bus which he claims if he misses it, there is a long hourly wait for next service.

When you go into 131500 Plan Your Trip, it gives 4-5 options to get there and even an earlier time to get up and get there, the worst thing it even gives him an option to catch three buses to Dean park. What stupidity when the Busways 755 was taking commuters to Dean park without then wasting time to go into Mount Druitt and then back out again! costing an extra 1/2 hour per day, 2 1/2 hours per week, 10 - 12 hours  per month and there is valuable rest and leisure time for the youth! Bring back Busways 755 FULL SERVICE!

I think  us older generation criticize some our youth who roam the streets and  may cause havoc in our community,  but there are the young hard working youth discovering their future and trying to make plans come true, get a foot in the front door of  employment and income opportunities. Opportunities are golden and if  we (including  public transport stake holders), prevent youth not to reach there work and interviews, by lack of public trans because Mount Druitt may be considered a low socio-economic area, this is wrong. Mount Druitt should be as import as Many, North Sydney, City and Maroubra.  Bus operators profits should not determine bus routes as what seems to be happening!

We need don't realise there youth that are doing good for themselves and even the community and this must be changed in the Bus Operators perception of our area. Get ride of the negativism crap that is thought  of Bus operators!

Some he gets asked to work 12pm-8pm and  unable to do this work due to travelling at night by himself and feeling safe, he finds there is little or no protection for commuters.

Marlene would like the 'National Service' brought in for all male youths and optional for female youths - this will take the roaming youths off the street and provide them a better chance and opportunity for great lifestyle.

This is wrong!!! Busways or any other bus company do not cancel services from one small suburb to another to make commuters pay more, they do it because there is a limited number of passengers travelling from Whalan to Dean Park. Bus services are not for one or two people!
