Mount Druitt Commuter With Cleaner Ideas For Interchange!

It is so nice that after providing thousands of our little 'info slips' to commuters in and around Mount Druitt and within the Greater Western Sydney that the nice people appreciate what we do to voice others ideas/suggestions/feedback and made a better place for public transport in our local area.

So what I am leading to, is it takes one voice, one commuter and one 'get it off my chest idea' to bring one result of happiness to me. This  is my payment for my voluntary work!

Here is a commuter that picked ip one of the thousands of 'info slips' and responded from the mighty heart by e-mail and you will see (or read) Dee requires a cleaner Mount Druitt Interchange:

Hello,

I have recently taken up commutating to work via bus and train again and it has been a postivie service experience. Over the past 2 weeks both the bus and train services have been very good. I take the 755 bus to and from Mt Druitt station and the train from there to Redfern for another interchange. The 755 route takes a fairly direct route ensuring travel time is reasonable. With established infrastructure that is already in place as long as you plan your trip according the timetables offered by bus and train being the faster limited stops service or the all stations type service they have so far been efficient time wise and with the number of times they come during peak .

There was however the fatality incident last week which of course delayed everyone…and unfortunate incident, as it was an exception could a bus service been provided to cater for the delay and subsequent back-log ?

One thing that is a negative is the absolute horrible state of Mt Druitt station it’s self, it’s like stepping off the bus into a ghetto environment. It seems to be dirtier than I ever remember it…the glass panels on the bus area and station and on the walk way ramps that lead up to the station are filthy with just grim in addition to some graffiti, can we not hire a contractor to clean them and on a regular basis ? People would like to have a view and a clear one for that matter. What preventative steps can we take to stop behavior of vandalizing the glass, seats etc with graffiti & littering ? Can we play classical music to deter loiters? Can’t we have some pride and a care factor which has nothing to do with affluence? It’s a shame because the newer design at the Mt Druitt station is good and it’s now so unattractive…

The Mutli-tickets are good. We pay a fair price to travel on public transport and we expect a certain standard yes even in Mt Druitt.. J

I will see what the local bus and train services in Mt Druitt have in store over the next couple of months hopefully my good experience so far remains consistent and that there is some progress and action with regards cleanliness factor.

Cheers,
Dee
