More Frequency Of Trains Out West And Less Up North - Rooty Hill Commuter!

Each commuter I talk too has got such good qualities and wonderful in sharing their opinions on how they would like to  see improvement in public transport. The beautiful thing that I like in interviewing or discussing these topics with these commuters is I do listen - and when they come from Mount Druitt and surrounding suburbs I listen even better! No, it doesn't mean I don't listen to others!

Whilst talking to Jeanne from Rooty Hill, I was really encouraged with her enthusiasm with her passion for  improvement in public transport. It made  myself so realise that there are so many great people in Mount Druitt.

Jeanne travels by car from Rooty Hill to Mount Druitt and then then catches Sydney Trains to Town hall train station and return to home. She says the frequency of trains is very important issue in peak hours returning home, where there is a general tendency that the trains carriages from the city are very crowded and she is generally left standing up to Parramatta train, and sits when seats become available.

One thing  she has noticed is trains travelling travelling towards the North Shore line are not are not as crowded or over crowed as the T1 Western line. this is where trains services may be taken from to cater  for more commuters travelling out West on the T1 Western Line.

Jean also mentioned that it appears the NSW Government may not understand that there are workers out west that need to travel to the city or further for work on weekends.  Having on 2 -3 services per hour  on weekend peak hours needs to be increased to 3-4 services per hour, allowing commuters more preparation of time to catch the Sydney Trains at Mount Druitt. The current train services are like the old days when they was only weekday shopping and no weekend shopping - now it is 24 hour shopping, 7 days a week. We don't have the train services to match it, in our modern era.

Furthermore Jeanne  advised about a friend hers that catches the 756 home outside Rooty Hill train station, normally catches the Busways bus 756 and one day the bus didn't arrive for 20 minutes so she decided to walk home to Oakhurst and was completely tired , after one hour of walking on top of the  waiting period.  Bus services should be provided to the local community at correct intervals, to prevent community members being disheartened about bus services and spending  more time getting home!

Finally, Jeanne says that the Sydney Trains are more reliable as opposed to local bus services that disappear!

Frequent Train Services Required - Rooty Hill Commuter!

A happy young lady, Naz from Rooty Hill travels from Rooty to Mount Druitt and parks in the Mount Druitt  Car Park, then she catches Sydney Trains from Mount Druitt to Parramatta.

She claims the reason she doesn't catch trains at Rooty Hill is that there is a reduced frequency of trains stopping at Rooty Hill. Mount Druitt  as a major train station has a services at least every 10 minutes heading to Parramatta, around 7.30 am.  She would like to see more frequent train services at least every 5 minutes.

A majority of time, she is left standing on overcrowding trains and says  providing more frequent trains , can improve commuter comfort. She is not to sure how frequent the trains services are at Rooty Hill.

Do you get the same  problem like Naz? Let us know!

Sydney Trains Underpasses or Overpasses To Eliminate Issues When Occurring On Different Lines - Rooty Hill Commuter!

Marie from Rooty Hill only catches Sydney Trains to Town Hall (and return) on a working day. When there is a problems and  incidents with trains - all lines or different train lines are affected.
 Railway Bridge overpass near Central

There has been different projects - Marie thinks that great consideration could be made by Sydney Trains and Transport For NSW construction  cross over or cross under lines (creating an under pass similar to tunnels  on West side of Parramatta train station), where for example the Western Line  crosses over the Cumberland line.

Here is an example of an under pass

By providing this public transport major improvement this should be constructed immediately, so that when incidents occur on different lines, it will not directly affect other lines and Sydney Trains time table will be kept to time table rather than the entire whole system goes at stand still or thrown into chaos.

Another issue Marie says she has is  not all trains do not have air-conditioning which provides discomfort  in peak hour and is inconvenient when  she and others catch overcrowded trains. The idea should be all trains should be checked to have all trains carriages properly maintained for air-conditioning on the Western Line.

Although she would like these improvements, coming from a 3rd World Country,, she appreciates that in her country she doesn't have  a train network at all and appreciates having  travelling ob public transport trains to get to  and from work. Comparing to Hong Kong and Singapore , our trains network and system is still behind the times but we are getting there!

Designated Bicycle Carriages For Bicylces on Sydney Trains

Fata from Rooty Hill has long trips to work every day, but in doing so keeps fit as well.

He travels by Sydney Trains to Lidcombe and the cycles from Lidcombe to Chullora to work and return - which takes him about 20 minutes. He would like to see improvements on Sydney Train services going home finds there are issues to placing a pushbike on on overcrowded trains and carriages. A suggest ion to have designated  carriages committed to cyclists (usually the last carriage - this is used for) as what happens in New Zealand).

This will make Fata and other bicycle commuters easier to travel on Sydney Trains and not provide discomfort to other commuters.

Reasonable Increased Of Expressed Train Services In Off-Peak Times - Rooty Hill Commuter!

A young man Pankaj from Rooty Rooty Hill, travels from Mount Druitt to North Sydney by Sydney Trains and return every day.
After 6.30pm trains stops at more train stations then he thinks is necessarily to get home. 9.30am or after heading to North Sydney, the frequency of catching Express trains to North Sydney is less than before this time - taking 1 1/4-1/2 to get to reach work.

The solution is to work out the number of people travelling: tracking down from ticketing from North Sydney or Mount Druitt, to find out if there is increase patronage, then if is it showing increased in patronage - try to increase the number of train services in off-peak and trial  for 6 months.

His belief is the numbers of train services depends on the number of ticket sales and destination of journeys, recorded.

Pankaj purchases My Multi-Three Weekly ticket and didn't realise that he doesn't have to pay for bus services from Rooty Hill to Mount Druitt, separately. So far, his wife drives him to and from Mount Druitt and use the benefits of his current purchased weekly ticket.

Further Feedback From Commuters On Other Free Bus Shuttles

A young male commuter from Rooty Hill, who signed our Proposed Mount Druitt Free Shuttle Bus Petition, thought the proposal was really needed by the people of Mount Druitt and Rooty Hill. He thought it was a good concept and that we should get it.

When he heard that Blacktown and Penrith lost there free shuttle bus services, he said, 'I never knew they even had one each - how did people know about it, when they were running?'

I advised, 'There were signs at train stations, buses had the Free Bus Shuttle signs, and hardly any promotions within the local communities from NSW for Transport/Government.'

I also advised him that if we can get 11,000 signatures for our Proposed Free Shuttle Bus Petition, the community will definitely know about it, we would have done the advertising for and on behalf  of the NSW Government. This in itself a strong chance for the shuttle bus to happen and make it, even more popular, by the entire community knowing about it

Getting The Message - 'Cleaner train Carriages'

Tonight I met a young Rooty Hill lady travelling on the train, who experienced delays getting home to day due to track-work. One thing was she was very sensible in acknowledging that although City Rail trains need constant cleaning, the the mess is caused and created by commuters.

She was wondering what is the best way to prevent trains been messed up by commuters - very difficult to resolve. Yet she claims that if regular clean up occur on trains, then people might get the message

Warm Welcome From Rooty Hill Commuters For Mount Druitt Free Shuttle Bus!

I have been lobbying at Mount Druitt bus interchange: top of the escalators, bottom of the escalators, bus stand 1, 2, 3,4, 5.6.7 & 8, Dawson Mall,  south side of Mount Druitt train station (near escalators), inside buses, inside trains, on Mount Druitt train station platforms and tonight I was seen at the Rooty Hill train (north: end of ramp) near 756-7 bus stop.

Well why Rooty Hill? Simply Rooty Hill is part of Mount Druitt and  is a great link to Mount Druitt. You may even call it the 'Eastern Suburbs of Mount Druitt'.

I picked up 30 petitions tonight and of these, was strong support for the Mount Druitt Free Shuttle bus Petition. I know it may sound crazy to lobby an area that the Free Shuttle Bus is not directly going into but it is not going far away from it. This brings more communities together, more people together, more links in public transport together. It might even promote more people to use buses and other forms of public transport.

I had one lady who took 2 copies of the petition as she notified us that she knows a group of 80 people that might sign the petition, people that need the bus services and  definitely 50 of them sill sign the petition tomorrow night, who will need this service to meet their daily needs.

A gentleman took one petition copy as he claims he will get people from his work to sign as they work around the area and will use this service to fulfil their daily needs.

A lovely lady who was waiting for the Bus to go to Rooty Hill RSL, stated this is good for the elderly, especially Fridays where people to go the club to relax and then can come to relax as well. She even suggested  that she will take a petition to the people she knows  and ask them to sign it and lobby the Rooty Hill RSL management to sign the petition as well, provide morale support  and further support as needed.

Another lady said fantastic I'll add it to my Facebook Page! That creates more links to other people.

Another gentleman from North Sydney travels to Rooty Hill-Mount Druitt said he will promote to others in North Sydney and north shore.

Another man said that the free bus shuttle works in Cremorne and is always well patronised why not here it could be better patronised.

So what did people think the local businesses will do to support the Mount Druitt Free Shuttle bus in North Rooty Hill: a lot of the business may not support it as the Mount Druitt Free shuttle bus is not coming into their main street.

My thoughts are that if I approach each business myself they may it more if they understand and then they would support it. Then they can  have a commercial gain from it if the final Mount Druitt Free bus shuttle route links into Rooty Hill - looping two great towns together.

The overall reception I received was warm and welcome! I will be back at Rooty Hill, mark my word!

Financial Support Required From Rooty HIll RSL - Mount Druitt Commuter For Mount Druitt Free Bus Shuttle!

As I was seeking signatures for the Mount Druitt Shuttle bus petition, I met Kelly and Tui who have recently changed their lifestyle , sold there car as  they claim it is too costly to pay for petrol, also too costly on on-running costs. Thus they depend on walk and public transport to get around.

They both claim that the Mount Druitt Free Shuttle bus will be handy to reaching hospital  for visiting , especially shopping for the elderly and will make people 'enjoy' their life better. They feel  the Rooty Hill RSL should have  been the one promoting this  as it could be a place that people go to to relax have coffee and return back to Mount Druitt. THe Rooty HIll RSL will definitely financially benefit from it as more people will come into the club and relax.

I think they would like the Rooty RSL to be  a major financial supporter for the Mount Druitt Free bus shuttle!

So Far Generic Response From Prime Minister Julia Gillard Regarding Request For Support Free Bus Shuttle Mount Druitt!

We refer to our request to sent yesterday to the Honourable Prime Minister Julia Gillard, in relation to the to  our Free Bus Shuttle Petition. We response which asks not to respond and advised that it may be referred to a Minister of The Australian Federal Government.
So far there is a bureaucrat just looking after the e-mail and maybe the Prime minister may not even see the e-mail or if not will not be provided the e-mail.
Sp far our phones are not running hot with call from the PM's Office or even any other Ministers Office!
When I viewed Julia Gillard's speech at the University of Western Sydney Rydalmere ( on ABC News 24 on the 3rd March 2013), she emphasised how import was public transport in Western Sydney. If this is true, I would assume she would knock on our door and support us, if not then that answers her statement  regarding public transport!
I'l be astounded if the PM knocks on our door!

Improvements Required With Buses And Trains - Rooty Commuter!

Another day of a wonderful lady from Rooty Hill, Barbara coming with so much improvements for public transport, these could be listened too carefully by the public transport stake holders.

Barbara travels 10 days in a row by City Rail from Mount Druitt to Town Town hall and return for work. She leaves early in the mornings by car as there are no 754 buses at around 5am time table to take her and others to Mount Druitt train station.

What she would like to see with train improvement is air-conditioning in winter is too cold. It appears when they turn it on for cooling/heating it not turn on early enough in the day and this creates total discomfort. If it was turn on early in the morning, then this would provide better benefits to to the commuter in relation to carriages having correct temperature control.

She has found with City Rail Track work  sometime there seems to be little or no connection form trains reaching Auburn and then waiting an hour or so for the next bus.  The buses do not seem to match the time tabled arrival  of the trains - bus tends to depart before you reach the bus stand. So a suggestion would be a minimum of  20 minutes between each service a t Auburn heading west.

It appears our public transport fares are going up, yet we are paying for the same services, nothing is different no improvement being seen. In London they have 2 minute trains services- maybe we could be like them but they are privately owned.

Editors notes; All the above points are valid points - should be looked into!

Free Bus Shuttle Extension Required - Mount Druitt

We are receiving further requests for a Mount Druitt Free Shuttle Bus, even with a requests to extend the service and have it looping from Mount Druitt Bus Interchange, North Parade, left into Oxford Lane, right into Kurrajong Avenue, right into Carlisle Avenue and right into Great  Western Highway  maybe left ion John Hines Avenue reach Burnings, loop around return to Mount Druitt using the same streets as mention but on the opposing run.

Also a further request to loop to South Rooty Hill , so that at least a senior women's network group can reach meeting using public transport as a proper means of public transport reaching out to the community.

More Lovely Commuters On Public Transport Feedback - Where Else Are They From: Mount Druitt

So, this is another day where I have my own opportunity (in my own time). to discuss/interview and give an opportunity to other people from with our own community a chance to speak on public transport.

I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed myself with two lovely people , who were quite happy work together. each giving each  other the chance to have their say. For hundreds of people so far this is their golden opportunity, the chance to air it out, make yourself be heard or remain quite and nothing may happen.

Fazle and Sayaida from Mount Druitt catch Busways 750 return to Mount Druitt and then trains to Blacktown, to visit doctors, do shopping, visiting and go to other places. They provided a list of  public transport improvements they would like to see improve as per below list:

  • The 750 buses come come 5 minutes earlier then time tabled,  because of this they miss their connected trains and their is the additional 30 minutes waiting period for the next bus services - the suggestion to provide 10-15 bus services and  ensure that buses run  to time table.
  • Cleanliness on trains is extremely dirty especially when they have both seen a can of Coca-cola lying on the floor of the carriage with liquid pouring out - suggestion is to make Commuters on City Rail trains more accountable, more vigilance resulting in financial financial fines.
  • Trains not properly ventilated for summer, conditioning  train temperatures, providing commuter comfort - suggestion is to provide more modern upgraded trains on the Western Line
  • Train announcement by individual transport officers, who tend to have a different accent, seem to be hard to understand - the solution would be to have a clear distinct voice, similar to the voice operated ones on train stations, who also speak at the correct speed.
  • They are pleased that bins have been placed on train platforms as there wasn't many bins on platform before!
  •  Require more interchangeable seats, so facing the same direction providing more ease and comfort.
  • They feel Mount Druitt, Rooty Hill and Doonside are behind the times with no electronic signage on platforms.
  • Lifts/escalators required on Rooty Hill and Doonside train Station.
  • Flemington train station needs ramps, lifts and elevators to assist commuters who cart their loads of shopping home on the City Rail trains - this was a special request from Sayaida - she was passionately raising this one to myself.
Well that was it but if I had more time, my hand could have ended up cramping - no, not really - but  I would have been forever writing for more and more times. Great people we have with great ideas!

Central Train Station to Rooty Hill Train Station - Increased Services Required PM - Rooty Hill Commuter!

It doesn't take myself a long time before I make connections with commuters on public transport to get there feedback on any improvements they would like to see, so that there is total satisfaction given to all commuters. Each commuter's feedback is important and if not improved on now could be improved later.

So (don't laugh) I met a young John from Rooty Hill. He travels during the week return to Central for work. His main improvement he  would to see with public transport  is  more train services from Central to Rooty Hill as it seems to be a fight to get seats (second last train station from the City) from a current 20 minute service to 10 minute service in peak time pm, especially around 5pm. By  the NSW Government increasing services from on return trips to Rooty Hill from Central, John claims this will benefit other commuters besides himself that he is ware of.

Rooty Hill Commuter - Safer Late Trains And More Mid-Morning Express Trains!

Hassan, a Rooty Commuter, walks to Mount Druitt train station  and sometimes catches city Rail train to Town Hall train station. He catches trains sometimes for work and finds at around 10.35am there should allocated an express train to the city,  stopping at 3 or 4 stations after Mount Druitt train station. He finds travelling to and from the city 2 hours a day  is a long part of a day if reduced to 30 minutes with Express trains, other people will be happy as they also share the  to have the same train service he travels on  improved, which will reduce travelling time.

His second and most important public transport improved is safety at late nights on trains seems to be little or nothing. He travels back home around 11-12pm and fights that he is not completely safe as he hasn't seem police officers and or transit officers on any train trips when he travels. He feels that especially late at nights there should be security guards/police officers  from trips at night from the city to make it a safer environment for commuters like himself and others.

He explained he felt so unsafe one night, when he departed the train carriage at Mount Druitt and he was the only one to do so - this made him feel a little insecure.

At times when I speak to these wonderful good people, who give up their travelling time. not knowing why I would like to speak to them, they make myself proud when they provide  complimentary comments.  Hassan was  appreciates the work I do and also appreciated the conversation we had as he can see that once the blog is published  all people will get information and they will make a decision how the improvement could be better for them!

On-Time Trains Required - Rooty Hill Commuter

Justin from Rooty Hill travels from Rooty Hill at 5.50am by City Rail train  to Redfern train station and from there he has to transfer to another train to Rockdale, where he works. He has been travelling for 5 years on public transport and in that time no significant changes to improve his travelling on public transport. Before that he was travelling by car to Mascot to work but now finds public transport less stressful.

At the moment, he finds public transport not that reliable: late trains at Rooty Hill train station by 5 minutes, this makes him miss his transfer train and allows him to wait up to 20 minutes for the next train at Redfern. PM normally travelling doesn't seem to have these issues but if and when it happens he has issues with seating with finding available seats. He sometimes is left standing from Redfern. This also goes with cancelled trains.

He is  just like every ordinary train commuter out West,  he requires on-time running train to make him reach work on-time, this will provide him and others with  better lifestyle!

Rooty Hill Commuter's Transport Issues!

Joe, from Rooty Hill claims there are sometimes lateness arriving at Rooty Hill, coming to and from both directions.  He asked he would like these improved.

He also supports the proposed Mount Druitt Free Bus Shuttle run and would still catch a bus to Mount Druitt from Rooty Hill before getting the Shuttle loop and advise others of this wonderful concept that can happen within Mount Druitt.

Save Our Bus Services

Read our story on how we made it our priority to ensure bus services are re-instated from services taken away in 2009.
