Will Our Rail Be Privatised?

Todays Sydney Morning herald titled:

O'Farrell on the spot after rail privatisation rumblings

THE head of the Rail, Tram and Bus Union has demanded answers from the NSW Premier, Barry O'Farrell, after comments by the head of the premier's new infrastructure body supporting the privatisation of transport services.

In an interview with the Herald, the inaugural chief executive of Infrastructure NSW, Paul Broad, praised Jeff Kennett's Victorian privatisations of the 1990s, but stressed that he was still early in his job and he had no agenda yet for NSW.

The government yesterday confirmed it had no plans to privatise RailCorp. But the NSW branch secretary of the RTBU, Alex Claassens, wrote to the premier yesterday expressing his concern about the comments made by Mr Broad.
