Now we are coming to the day of age where transport is one of the hot topics on all politicians lips. In fact, is is so important that it is quite a daunting thought of managing transport in all directions of Sydney and of course Western Sydney. Traffic thoroughfare is very complex and has to taken into deep thought ( keeping in mind in my school days: Sydney is one of the worlds unplanned city streets), it is like find each simple piece of jigsaw puzzle and then making those important difficult decisions.
WSTPU in summing up has got relevant areas of transport that we can see should be considered for the future: Western Express (original cost $4.8b, North West Rail Link ($7.7b?),Parramatta to Epping Rail Line ($2.1b), Southwest Link, Integrated Authority/Planning, Bus network system, Nightriders, Community Transport, Cumberland Railway Line and Costing of Infrastructure.
Each of of the above have their own negatives and positives, so it is just a matter of each one of us, working out which one is the the highest order of importance (and this may depend where you live). Most of these interact and all provide easier and improvement transport for a majority of commuters around Western Sydney.
For the Mount Druitt commuters the most important issues of transport for the election we need to focus on is the "Western Express' and 'Cumberland Line' . The 'Western Express' was implemented last year by the current NSW Labor Government, whilst this has been dropped by the opposition NSW Liberals so far. With the 'Cumberland Railway Line NSW Liberals are committed to provide increase in train services at present there is no commitment from the NSW Labor Government.
One of these is a quick fix policy and the other is a short to long term project both are relevant to our every day commuting. We will provide you with further updates as we go along.
