Oncoming Election 26th March 2011 - What Lies In Front Of Us With Transport?

Transport is one of the top three political topics that is important with the oncoming New South Wales State Election, that concerns us in Mount Druitt! We know what we want and it is not political choices it is choices that improve and benefit the community.

This is what we need in relation to transport in and around Mount Druitt:
  • Regular bus services that take commuters to their nearest point of set down,  very close to their destination.
  • Contingency plans to ensure that there is all bus services leaving Mount Druitt interchange - gets clearance from City Rail  prior to leaving (as long as bus leaves on schedule).
  • More services on weekends and late at nights, where bus services haven't operated before.
  • More upgrades of bus stops to sheltered and even more bus stops converted to seated bus stops, more accessible.
  • More unmarked police patrol cars in areas that are criminals prone to rock throwing.
  • An extended and  redesigned bus interchange which will allow for the taxis to loop inside the interchange, stopping cluttering of buses - pedestrian crossing in interchange allowing for commuters alternating on choice of buses.
  • Continual  clean up  three times a day for cleaning of the bus interchange and infringements applied to commuters who leave a mess.
  • Continuance of the promotional 'Happy Bus Drivers Register'! - community awards to Happy Bus Drivers, Happy City Rail staff and Happy taxi drivers!
  • Extension of  taxi ranks to south side of Mount Druitt station on North Parade and also on the South side -  other side of the station.
  • Modification and upgrading of electronic signage on Mount Druitt platforms and on the op of the concourse -  this  may eliminate automatic talking  responses.
  • More sheltered seats on plaftfrom, cleaning of rubbish thrown on railway lines and the filling in of two gapings on either side on the concourse - that are exposed to rain and sunlight.
  • More police patrolling in all areas of public transport.
  • In some places one bus journeys instead of two bus journeys to reach Mount Druitt
  • For the new NSW government to investigate the viability of any suggestions that may improve transport in and out of Mount Druitt making a difference
  • That the Western Sydney Public Transport Users will be  kept as an Advisory to the NSW Transport and assist local transport lobby groups that are all within.
  • No loss of services without advice from Mount Druitt Commuters Improvement Group.
