NighRide Buses Does Not Stop At Every Station!

A Mount Druitt local identity, Ross', had an issue with  the NightRider Route N70 doe not reach Werrington  Train Station and it is not on the N70 route. Especially when it was about approximately 1.20am and the next service is in one hour. Some commuters would like to get off at Werrington Train Station to provide vital links to their home destination

Ross would like to see 24 hour services on CityRail which provides  a more efficient service to get home at night.

I have noticed on the time table it mises 2 train stations on the Western Line - see if you can pick it up - here is the time table:

And it is Rooty Hill and Werrington train stations

Let's hope as next train/bus review the NSW Government ensures that these 2 train stations are included on the time tables!

Hi John

I've had a look at the N70 Night Ride timetable and the network map. Rooty Hill is not listed as either a station or non-station stop on either the timetable or the map. It should not be too hard to add Rooty Hill to the network. The buses can use the bus stop used by the Route 737 and track work buses on the south side of the station opposite IGA and in front of the former Commonwealth Bank building.

Werrington is listed as a non-station stop on the map but is not on the timetable. There are 2 official Night Ride stops at Werrington. Both are sign-posted with the official Night Ride logos (but no timetables) and are located on the Great Western Highway. The City service stops in front of the BP service station. The Penrith service stops across the road in front of the historic Four Winds Homestead (now vacant and fenced off). Four Winds is just before McDonalds and the Caltex-Woolworths service station on the highway.

Bus times for Werrington are approx 1 minute from Kingswood. For the benefit of Ross, the City service would be 11.22 pm, 12.22 am, 1.22 am, 2.22 am, 3.22 am and 4.22 am while the Penrith service would be 1.37 am, 2.37 am, 3.37 am, 4.37 am and 5.37 am. These stops need to be added to the timetable.

The N70 could be diverted to run along Werrington Road to loop around Werrington station (south side) to pick up and set down in addition to the 2 highway stops.

In relation to Mt Druitt, the N70 timetable is incorrect. The Night Ride buses do not use Bay 3 at the interchange and has not used Bay 3 for some 3 to 4 years. I believe that they stopped using Bay 3 for security reasons as it is at the far end of the interchange and isolated. I've observed the City service stopping at the rear of the taxi rank in North Parade while the Penrith service stops at the bottom of the station steps in North Parade which is also used by Penrith buses during track work time. There are no signage for both stops at either the rear of the taxi rank or at the bottom of the station steps and no timetable. Regular users of the N70 know where the stops are but first-time users would go to Bay 3 as per the timetable and find the bus does not stop there anymore and wait for another hour for the next bus.

A solution is for the N70 to use Bay 5. This is used by the 737 and 739 service in the day and is the bay closest to the taxi rank. It will provide shelter and seating and there is added security from the taxi rank adjacent to it. It is also the best lit of all the bays in the bus interchange.

The operator of the N70 is Westbus.
