Fare Evaders - First Should They Be Fined The First Time?

Thomson, from Mount Druitt had an innocent reason why he got caught for fare evasion today. His issue is he is under 15 years of age. He attends a High School in Mount Druitt and was practising for off-season representative Rugby League when his coach asked them to train in Blacktown.

His sister was supposed to have picked him up after practice and couldn't make it - so he had only enough fare for bus fare - not train fare home and skip his train fare to get home. Luckily his fine was only $50.00. He was in shock.

I think that that are some genuine people out there that may offend unintentionally and if this is the case, priority should be given to providing a first warning notice andf then if there is a seconf offence then an instant fine payable within 1  week - I wonder what the community support would befor this!
