Response To Face Book Comments Of Mount Druitt Commuter Car Park , Is It A White Elephant/ FRom City Western Line Manager!

On Monday, I notice a Face Book discussion on the fairly recent and new Mount Druitt Car Park and comments were coming think and thin from  locals, including Blacktown City Councillor Edmond Atalla (which I think that a Councillor gets involved local social media). From there it took  2 days for a response from the Western Line City Manager, Dimitri Hondros and here it is:

Hi John,

Not sure what the answer to this one is, the fact is the Mount Druitt Commuter Car park is full every weekday so calling it a white elephant doesn't seem appropriate.

As for the parking in around the station on public roads that is a matter for council, for as long as the spots remain untimed customers will continue to park there.

  Marion Brown I have driven past the car park on a number of occasions and seen plenty of empty spots whilst the spaces at and around the station are full.. I think people just can't be bothered walking the short distance from the car park to the station.

  Karen-Mishelle Copeland Especially in bad weather it is too far to walk to the station when there is no undercover foot path. Rather catch the bus & get dropped in the shelter of the interchange than leave my car up the road & risk getting wet when I come home.

Transport Officer Blacktown City Council - Looking to Review Mount Druitt Commuter Car Park Blind spot!

When we publish blogs, things don't just rest there ( in the too hard pile). Things get happening, especially if it is a problem and needs to be fixed up. Sometimes things don't get fixed up up but are placed on others mind, who read and understand  and maybe  send messages to others who get things moving!

I thank Pradeep who I spoke to last year (twice), who brought over to me an important issue that has been created and can report that after speaking to a transport officer from Blacktown City Council that the  issue will be reviewed. What the issue is was a blind spot, whilst driving out of the  Mount Druitt Commuter Car Park. Thank you for Blacktown City Council to take interest.

Cracks Appear At Mount Druitt Commuter Car Park!

Mount Druitt Commuter Car Park is serving the public transport commuters, allowing commuters to drive their cars locally, park and meet their second mode of transport (trains),  so that they reach at work east of Mount Druitt. 

I am and was happy when the Mount Druitt Commuter Car Park was opened, yet  I was hoping it would bee closer to the train station due to the walk involved. So for example, if one person drives for 10 minutes & then parks the car at the Mount Druitt Car Park walks for 5 minutes to the train station and spends 2 minutes buying his ticket. I still think catching buses is easier and then train but that is just plain old me....

Now what I have been surprised about lately with Mount Druitt car Park is cracks appearing on the steps and 2nd floor. I'm not a qualified builder not do I want to one but, I just was wondering if the cracks in the concrete are not a quick concrete slab engineering job. This is because the original company that won the tender in the construction of the Mount Druitt Car Park went into Liquidation and another builder had to be found. Have a look yourself - we will also seek feedback from  Western Line City Rail Manager.

Blind Spot For Mount Druitt Commuter Car Park User

Pradeep, from Rooty Hill met myself a few months and was so polite to me as I sat next to him on the train.  He told me that he found our website very interesting to read as it had a variety of information.

He wanted to provide feedback in relation to the Mount Druitt Commuter Car Park that has recently been opened. The bottom Commuter car Park is Filled every day between Monday to Friday and he says the only issue that he faces is when driving out of the existing commuter car park, there is usually 2 cars parked on the  right side, causing a blind spot by blocking on coming traffic coming from the right. It makes it extremely obscure vision, making it difficult to leave the Commuter Car Park.

Although they are legally allowed to park in those spots, I was wondering if Blacktown City Council and/or City Rail would investigate the issue to see if  the blind spot is confirmed and the then look at ways to eliminate the hazard.

Mount Druitt Car Park - In Wrong Part Of Mount Druitt - City Rail (Visitor)

Yesterday, I approached the top of the Mount Druitt Train Station Concourse, and I was approached by a City Rail (Visitor) handing out notices of the 'Opening of the Mount Druitt Commuter Car Park' which is part of the NSW Government's Transport Access Program. 

What confused myself was the City Rail representative was pointing towards the south side of Mount Druitt and I asked him is this the second Commuter car Park and he answered, 'Yes'.

Maybe he misunderstood myself! So I raced over the south side of the station checking the map on the back of the notice and it didn't match. So I raced over to him again and advised to him this is not a second Commuter Car Park, I pointed to the direction of the Mount Druitt Courthouse!

Immediately, he apologised as he said he thought Beames Avenue was on the other side. I greatly appreciated that he apologised, excited about the commuter car park opening but worried he might have given other commuters the wrong direction!
