Some Safer Bus Stops In Mount Druitt

A Westbus bus driver has advised myself of anti slip, grip material placed on some of the new bus stops placed along Luxford Road, around the suburbs of Mount Druitt.

This is a good thing for commuters who have trouble with access to our modern public transport system, which will prevent more potential accidents entering and leaving the bus. They have this on train station platforms - so if it works there, it can work on bus stops!

Colyton Commuter Misses On Early Bus - There Is None!

A female commuter from Colyton travels most of the time from Mount Druitt to Parramatta and would like to see more carriages on rains around 4pm for the return trip home, due to over-crowdedness.

Due to Westbus 771 not starting in the morning drives her car to Mount Druitt and would also like to see earlier train services, so that commuters can catch better public transport.

She drives directly to work in Parramatta only when she has other personal commitments, that then makes her part of her life easier.

No Last Bus for Mark And His Wife From Shalvey

Mark & his wife a reasonably new commuter from Griffith, has found it so hard coming home from his new work from Camellia.

He and his wife has been doing this for about 4 months working late shift at night finishing at late night travel by train from Camellia to Clyde and change trains to Mount Druitt reaching Mount Druitt at around 12.15am, missing the last bus  to Shalvey.

What they have been doing when missing the service is walk straight home...wait or it... at Shalvey. There is no fear walking home at night but  due to a football injury, which makes one of his feet limp, he has to ask his employer to see if he can swap shifts and start a bit earlier.

What this indicates is that we have missing ' Public Transport Gap Services', which means public transport services that cater for midnight to early morn. That's right - even 45 minute  loop services around and back into Carlisle, would service the hard working services that are actually making a living. If these transport services are not provided then this can cause a raise in unemployment.

There are times I feel for the people I speak too and this time I felt for him and his wife and I still do. They are the true hardship stories that are in our real community and yet we or the NSW government is not providing necessary "Public Transport Gap Services', to make the lives of these commuters and others who travel this time essential services.

They walk at the very least under 6 Kilometres to get home.  They cannot afford taxis, each way every day and on top of train fares.

Although I explained of maxi-taxis that could have solved their  transport issues at after midnight, the thought that time of night there would be a desire or need of 9 other commuters heading to Shalvey is not that in demand.

So I pray so hard that someone out there listens to their story or even reads this blog and hears what people are suffering with public transport out there.

Mount Druitt Commuter Believes That Public Transport Is More Efficient And Cheap Cost

A Mount Druitt  train and  bus commuter man has great insight in efficiency of public transport.

He is frustrated with parking and finding parking especially at Westmead hospital and even driving out there paying exorbitant parking fees and the tine taken to search for a car-spot.

This wondering commuter finds public transport an easy way to get to all places around the community and he has heard about the former Mount Druitt bus shuttle which only went to the Mount Druitt hospital and return.

It so good to hear of passionate and happy public transport commuters in our day of day!

Mount Druitt Holds Western Sydney Public Transport Users Policy Meeting - Great For Us!

Today was Mount Druitt hosting the Western Sydney Public Transport Users Policy Committee and we  had such a great venue - Rooms 3-4 at the Hubb, Mount Druitt. This was a first for Mount Druitt and the WSPTU Policy members, to attend our area in an official capacity.

The emphasis was on how local transport groups can local council candidates  for the oncoming Council elections, to get improved public transport services. Tips were provided to members, so that ideas can be brought back to their groups, used to get the candidates on side the local groups.

What a lot people don't realise is that the power of changing the local community from a government aspect, starts from the local council elected members. They have the local change to change the outcome of public transport as they discuss local issues with local lobbyists.

Other issues discussed was the new City Rail being split in two: NSW Trains & Sydney Trains and  bus contracts/reviews coming through, bus shuttles was touched on and discussed.

Our Group Members NSW Long Term Transport Master Plan - Especially On Metro Buses In Western Sydney

Lester, who has been a recent member (with his wife) of our group towards the end of last year, is very inspirational in especially the  history of public transport within Western Sydney. I have seen old train stations of Mount Druitt and Blacktown train stations and  he has does a report on Bidwill bus services (or late of). Which I will chase up with him and  ask him to place on our blog.

He is someone I have a lot of time for and someone who cares (Like most of our members) but especially as a train enthusiast  a researcher of public transport history - I certainly bow down to him.

Lester has separately provide to us and Western Sydney Public Transport Users his NSW Long Term Transport Master plan, which he has submitted. We encourage you to view and read it and provide us with direct feedback, which we will supply back to Lester:

Long Trip For Young Lethbridge Park Commuter To Rouse Hill!

A young man who normally drives to work - has to suddenly catch public transport an unusual way, He has to catch the Westbus 780 to Mount Druitt at Lethbridge Park around 5am, catch the train from Mount Druitt to Blacktown and then catch the T70/1 to Rouse Hill.

Time is about 2 hours to reach Rouse Hill - we should have transport connections to meet the early hours of the morning, direct route to Rouse Hill making it easier for all who have to commute in Sydney'a North-West.

St Marys Commuter Requires More Express Trains During 'Off-Peak' Periods!

Ash from St Marys, a train commuter travelling to tand from the city has worked out that there are more express trains required to stop at St Marys providing more seating as seating is 50/50 issue, in relation to availability and then comfort.

The main time he claims this is required is during 'off-peak' times -  where there can be up to 1/2 an hour waiting time - this addition services  would eliminate frustrated waiting commuters.

UWS Student Believes In More Comfortable Trains....!

And so do you...!

Yes, another incredible student who is studying to be a nurse in age care, Leslie from Mount Druitt, she has noticed that on the Western Line there is a lot of overcrowded trains and suggest more trains be introduced to alleviate the over-crowdedness and provide more comfort to commuters.

The other issue she has is buses are coming late at Parramatta to take students to the UWS Parramatta - sometimes up to 20 minutes wait. What she is stating is we are encouraging people to catch public transport and yet services need to be there them to make it happen, increase in services to be provided to compensate the waiting time issue.

Save Our Bus Services
