Train Driver Opeterated/Controlled Air-conditioners - Penrith Commuter

I met Jason from Penrith yesterday who is a virgin cyclist, travels to Penrith train station and catches City Rail trains return to Wynyard during the week for work.

He  says that he has struck a day with other complaining commuters of  travelling in a non working air-conditioning train. This makes conditions extremely hot and sweaty for each commuter, providing total discomfort. People feel uneasy in commuting using public transport, if this keeps on happening!

His suggestion is that instead of technical staff operating/controlling air-conditioners in trains, that this is operated/controlled by each diver, which in his country happens like this in South Korea.

Foldaway Bicycle Carried On Train By Commuter From Blue Mountains

Today was my first time, I had  met a exciting cyclist carrying a fold away bicycle on a train. Infarct, when I first spoke to him I said he was carry a heavy bulky bag & he wasn't.

He  replied that he was carrying a dead body on the train. I nearly believe him until I saw his smile and he not really its a foldaway bike. As an cycling enthusiastic hr just come back from a day cycling trip from Melbourne for fundraising for the "Royal Blind Society'. He lives in the Blue mountains and travels from Redfern to Botany to work.

He also explained how he purchased a fold away bicycle for his mother a few years ago - she enjoyed using it in a park and since she hasn't used it. In saying  that, he still encourages her to use it  and he advised he might contact our Blue Mountains transport group. Also seek information from his local local government area  regarding cycling pathways etc.

People like him are needed to improve public transport for cyclists for a better future!

Planned Cycle Stands Great Idea!

My only suggestion would be that these students ensure that through each Local Government Area's,has proper approved cycle ways making it safer for commuters to get to and from their local communities.

An UWS Student, a young gentleman called Chetan, was today commuting by train from Kingswood to Westmead train station and told myself what a group of his fellow students are doing to make public transport healthier and cheaper. They are all working on a project o leasing bicycles  from a bicycle stand at railway station so that commuters can commute to and from home, at a cost effective and health outlook of life. This may even be subsidised by the NSW Government.

It is called, 'Sustainable Design' - providing ideas towards projects that government would accept and implement within the community. It can even be done as a business- they are still working on it. The idea sounds good, I just think it might not be agreeable to all commuters or the majority of commuters but it could catch on in time.
