From Lester - Secretary of MDCIG Inc - Councillors Update in 2016 Election

With the coming Blacktown Council elections on September 10, seven of our current 15 Councillors are not standing for re-election.

Three veteran Councillors with nearly 30 years service are retiring from Blacktown Council.

Alan Pendleton, ALP Ward 1, Len Robinson, Liberal Ward 2 and Charlie Lowles, ALP Ward 5, all former Mayors of Blacktown, are hanging up their shingles. We thank them for their service to Council and wish them a happy retirement.

Edmond Atalla, ALP Ward 4, a former Deputy Mayor, is stepping down due to his role as the Member for Mount Druitt.

Three  of the younger generation of Councillors are moving to different roles outside Council.

Mark Holmes, Liberal Ward 2, Karlo Siljeg, Liberal Ward 3 and Isabelle White, Liberal Ward 4 are not standing for re-election. Mark and Karlo are stepping down for family reasons and are seeking new careers in the business world.

Isabelle has been accepted at the prestigious La Sorbonne University in Paris, France and is moving overseas to study. We wish her all the very best with her new adventure. We thank these Councillors for their service.

Deputy Mayor Jacqueline Donaldson, Independent Ward 5, is moving to Ward 4. She is the lead candidate in the Group D ticket in Ward 4. We wish her all the best in her campaign.
